There are three volunteers on the Board of Directors and one part-time Office and Operations Manager. The DC Board members are appointed by the IFF Board of Directors. The DC Board hires the Office and Operations Manager. For more information on current DC Board members and staff, click on the following links.
The Board sets policy and direction for the DC organization, coordinates and sets priorities for the production of new products, responds to the requests of the parent organization the International Feldenkrais Federation (IFF) Board, discusses projects with the copyright holders, ensures the fair distribution of materials for sale, and volunteers much time toward the details involving website development, digital conversions, and electronic media. The board members often live significant distances apart, across international borders. Board meetings are generally held weekly or monthly via conference call, and the members maintain routine email correspondence. The Board meets face-to-face at least once per year, usually at the FGNA conference or the IFF Assembly, held in Europe.
The Board members take on a variety of volunteer responsibilities. For example, when training transcripts are produced, one board member will be the project leader and production planner. They initiate or delegate the many tasks needed to bring the project to completion. Tasks are completed by board members, other volunteers or staff -- we work as a team. Technical specialists are occasionally hired for certain phases of production. By the time a product becomes available for sale, hundreds of volunteer hours have been put into it.
Through the extensive use of volunteers, the IFF Distribution Center is committed to bringing materials to practitioners and trainees at the lowest possible cost.
The DC Office and Operations Manager has a variety of duties. To keep the office organized, ensure that inventory is in stock and orders are filled and shipped. And to manage the bookkeeping and communicate with those who have questions about their orders. The DC staff member also handles projects related to product development, marketing and outreach.
